Logging In To WordPress
Logging in to WordPress gives you access to your site’s administrative area, also called the WordPress dashboard. This is where authorized users can manage content, review settings, upload media, and complete other site management tasks depending on their user role.

Login page URL
To access your site’s login screen, add /wp-admin to the end of your website URL.
For example: https://example.com/wp-admin
Replace example.com with your actual site domain.
If you are not currently logged in, WordPress will automatically redirect you to the main login page.
If you are already logged in, WordPress will take you directly to the dashboard.
How to log in
On the WordPress login screen:
- Enter your username or email address
- Enter your password
- Click Log In
If your credentials are correct, you will be taken to the WordPress dashboard.
Resetting your password
If you cannot remember your password, use the password reset option on the login screen.
- Go to your site’s login page
- Select Lost your password?
- Enter your username or email address
- Check your email for a password reset link
- Follow the link and create a new password
The reset email will be sent to the email address connected to your WordPress account.
If you do not have an account
You cannot log in to WordPress unless a user account has already been created for you.
If you do not have an account, contact your website administrator. They can create an account and assign the appropriate user role based on what you need to do on the site.
Tips for editors
Use your own account
Always log in with your own username or email address. Shared accounts make it harder to track edits, manage permissions, and keep the site secure.
Keep your password secure
Choose a strong password and do not share it with others. If you think someone else may have access to your password, reset it right away.
Check your email address
Password reset links are sent to the email address connected to your account. If you do not receive the reset email, check your spam folder or contact your website administrator.
Contact an administrator if you get stuck
If your login does not work, your account may need to be created, updated, or reactivated. Your website administrator can confirm your access and help you get back in.
