Announcements Block

The Announcements block lets you add a manual announcement directly within page content. It’s a flexible way to highlight important, time-sensitive information without relying on global or automated announcements.

Why use the Announcements block

This block is designed to mirror the look and feel of the site’s primary Announcements feature, but it works independently. Think of it as a secondary option for one-off, in-page messaging when you need more control over placement and context. For most site-wide or recurring announcements, the primary Announcements feature is still the best choice.

Use the Announcements block when you need to surface important information within the flow of a page.

It’s especially useful for:

  • Highlighting timely updates tied to specific content
  • Adding contextual notices that don’t belong in the global header
  • Reinforcing key messages without interrupting the overall page experience
  • Creating one-off announcements without setting up a full announcement post

This block works best when the message is short, clear, and directly relevant to the surrounding content.

How to use the block

Start by adding the Announcements block to the page. Learn how to add blocks.

Once the block is added, editors typically:

  • Enter a heading and body text directly in the block
  • Optionally add a call to action
  • Adjust display settings like color theme and alignment
  • Control layout and spacing to fit the surrounding content

While this block looks similar to the primary Announcements feature, it does not pull in or sync with those announcements. It’s fully manual and controlled within the page.

Tips for editors

Keep it short and focused

Announcements should be quick to scan. Stick to one key message and avoid long paragraphs.

Use the right tool for the job

If the message needs to appear across the entire site or be managed centrally, use the primary Announcements feature instead.

Don’t overuse announcements

Too many announcements on a page can reduce their impact. Use them sparingly so important messages stand out.
