Related Posts Block

The Related Posts block displays an automatic or manual selection of posts to help connect readers with additional, relevant content. It’s most commonly used in templates on single posts or custom post type pages, typically near the end of content.

Use the Related Posts block when you want to:

  • Guide readers to similar or related content
  • Keep users engaged beyond a single page
  • Highlight important or relevant posts
  • Create stronger connections across your content

This block helps extend the user journey and improve content discoverability.

How to use the block

Start by adding the Related Posts block to your page, or locate it within a template if it’s already included. Learn how to add blocks.

In most cases, this block is placed near the end of a post or page to guide readers to additional content.

Once the block is added, editors typically:

  • Choose how posts are selected (automatic or manual)
  • Select posts if using manual selection
  • Choose a layout (grid or list)
  • Adjust the number of posts to display

The Related Posts block is often included in templates for single posts or custom post types, so it may already appear on your pages without needing to be added manually.

Even if you don’t interact with it often, it’s helpful to understand how it works — especially when switching between automatic and manual selection.

  • Grid (3-column)
    • Displays posts in a three-column layout
    • Stacks into a single column on smaller screens
    • Each post typically includes: Featured image, Category, Title, Author, Date, Excerpt
  • List (single column)
    • Displays posts in a vertical list
    • Often used in sidebars or narrower layouts
    • Content is similar to grid view, but may not include a featured image

Note: The content shown may vary depending on the post type and site configuration.

Block styles

In the Styles tab of the block settings sidebar:

  • Padding: Controls space inside the block
  • Margin: Controls space around the block

Use these settings to align the block with surrounding content and maintain consistent spacing.

Tips for editors

Choose the right selection method

Use automatic selection for scalable, low-maintenance content. Use manual selection when specific posts need to be featured.

Keep content relevant

When manually selecting, make sure displayed posts are closely related to the current page to maintain a strong user experience.

Match layout to context

Use the grid layout for main content areas. Use the list layout for sidebars or supporting content.
